After a busy summer working in the Forever Cornwall office, I had a lovely break to Fowey at the beginning of October. The weather was warm and sunny, amazingly so for this time of year, but very windy. Not that I minded I had a map and my four pawed friend and we did lots of exploring!
Several half days were spent on walks exploring the coastal path around to Polkerris and Par and Polruan and the Hall Walk. The footpaths are in the area are well trodden, and surprisingly wooded, but open up at various points to beautiful views of the estuary and sea beyond.
The best bit about a walk for me though is stopping in a nice cove for a swim, a quick dip to cool off is a highlight for me and these secret spots around Fowey are in abundance.
Time was also spent wondering around the old streets of Fowey itself, taking ferry trips and travelling back in time by visiting St Catherine’s Castle.
