Lizard Peninsula

Way down south near Cornwall’s most southerly tip, this long, sandy stretch is one of the Lizard’s biggest beaches. Come in summer for sun-baked sands and brilliant beginner waves, and in winter for hot chocolates in the cafe, impressive surf and herds of friendly ponies grazing on the banks. The fishing villages of Cadgwith and Coverack are a short hop, and there are walks galore in every direction. Here are a few suggestions of things to do in and around Kennack Sands. Out on the water Right on the beach you’ll find the friendly Kennack Sands Surf School, where Josh,...

Calming, soul-nourishing and inspiring; just a few words Cornwall’s top lifestyle blogger Anna Clark describes living in the south west of England. We caught up with Anna who runs ‘The Cornish Life’ blog, her open journal for exploring each corner of Cornwall… Did you grow up in Cornwall? From age 2 I grew up in Cornwall and have wonderful memories from my childhood going to the beach on weekends and school holidays (particularly around Godrevy, Chapel Porth, Perranporth, and Holywell Bay!). As a teenager, I definitely took our beautiful home for granted though, and didn’t realise how lucky I was...

Almost its own little island, surrounded on three sides by ocean and the Helford River to the north, the Lizard Peninsula is the UK’s most southerly tip. Whenever you visit, even in peak season, you can find practically-deserted stretches of coastal path, uncrowded coves, quiet fishing villages. Despite the slow pace of life, the Lizard is packed with things to see and do that celebrate this wild, remote region of Cornwall — here’s a selection of our favourites. Delve into the peninsula’s heritage Built in 1752, the distinctive Lizard Lighthouse kept watch over vessels around Britain’s most southerly point for...

See below our guide to places to eat in the Lizard, Cornwall. Poldhu Beach Cafe Right off Poldhu’s beautiful arc of golden sand is this great little beach shack — its hot chocolates are legendary...

If you’re visiting the Helford River, you will be spoilt by the quality and variety of beaches and swimming spots on offer. We have seven beautiful cottages and barn conversions you can choose from.  Please note, these beaches do not have lifeguard cover unless specifically stated.   Grebe, Helford River   View this post on Instagram   A post shared by 𝙴𝚖 & 𝙹𝚘𝚗𝚗𝚢 (@our.cornish.life) On the north side...

The circular route from Cadgwith to The Lizard (and back again) is a great way to explore this rugged coastline. Distance 7 miles You can visit this great bit of coastline, alongside plenty more spectacular sights by going on the 7-mile circular walk from Cadgwith Cove to The Lizard. This is exactly what I did when I took my Cornish Ramblers out for a hike a few months ago, and they were not disappointed. Cadgwith is a typically beautiful Cornish village and fishing port which you will find located between Coverack and the Lizard Peninsula. Cadgwith was originally called ‘Porthcaswydh’,...
